For this module, we are required to create a prototype of an agreed project, producing a record of project and personal development along the way. We should also consider using the Industry Research module alongside and applying our findings to the development of the project prototype.
Proposal:
My minor project is a 3rd person adventure game created using Unreal Engine 4, this is going to be an adventure for us all
At the top of this page are featured blogs related to this module which I used to track my development. I will refer to individual blogs throughout, going into detail on what sections were worked on, challenges that arose and outcomes.

Story:
Bark and Kernel Potts live on a ridge high up the side of a volcano, they have the perfect views of their picturesque island known as Camp Comfort.
Bark is an unusual tree, he can see the forest below, often dreaming of what life would have been like if he'd grown down there with his family. Kernel Potts has been on the island for generations and loves the peace and calm that living on the ridge provides.
What is about to happen will change their world forever, it's down to the three of you to make quick choices to save yourselves and as many family members as you go.
Aim:
Escape the erupting volcano, similar to the style of Crash, this is a fast-paced adventure game. Along the way The aim of the game is to escape there are mushrooms to save (Kernel Potts' family), Bark has Acorns.
My Plan:
I propose to build the level of my game using Epic's Unreal Engine 4, this is free to use software which allows you to license and sell any products you produce. I will have to put into my research the licenses, I'm sure that Epic isn't giving away the creative license to print your own money in a competitive marketplace.
The game will be complete with title, menu, all assets complete with textures, rigged & skinned where needed, end of level stats sheet.
Challenges:
Limited knowledge of UE4 - This will be my first project using the software
Timescale - The deadline is late January 2018, this may seem like long enough and I'm sure it would be if there weren't any hurdles.
KISS - Personally I have a habit of over-complicating things, I'll be working closely with my tutor to make sure I don't fall victim.
One man band - There are lots of elements to create a game and I'm aware that I could spend to much time on areas that aren't as valuable to the module.

I'm being very optimistic about this project, there is only me holding me back, it's all about how fast I can convert learnt knowledge into practical knowledge.
